MMA World Expo to have 4th Round in New York

The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Expo has confirmed its 4th annual event at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York, United States Of America on the 16th and 17th of February.

Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing combat sport in the world bar none. With its modern roots in the Gracie martial arts family from Brazil who challenged all comers with their unique brand of Jiu Jitsu, before making themselves world famous by coming to the United States and forming the“Ultimate Fighting Championship” (UFC)

In the 20 years since, MMA has become a global phenomenon and a multi-million dollar industry. With the addition of a formalised rule-set, rigorous officiating and organisation, the sport of MMA is now the only genuine proving ground of martial arts and martial artists. It is now legal in all but a few states in the USA, one of the exceptions being New York, where a powerful boxing lobby uses decades old political influence to stifle efforts to bring the sport to one of America’s biggest fight towns.

The MMA World Expo is, therefore, not simply the biggest independent MMA expo on the East Coast, it is a clear opportunity for New Yorkers to show legislators the wealth of public backing the sport has. Those who do attend will be greeted by some of the biggest names in the sport including the the legendary “Big” John McCarthy and Ray Sefo among others, in addition to displays of all the latest equipment for gyms and martial artists. A very special amateur MMA league will also be launched at the show, finally enabling the Big Apple to see some live fights!

The biggest and best in the area- a show of defiance to censorious politicians. The world MMA Expo is simply not to be missed if you’re a martial arts enthusiast in and around New York State.
